Murphy is a settled, family-focused city between Plano, Wylie and Sachse. Most neighborhoods were built in the late 1990s and 2000s, so the trees are tall now, the landscaping has filled in, and the homes have had 20 years or more to settle. That's when termites, roof rats and spiders start to show up. Murphy's greenbelts along Maxwell Creek and its parks and ponds add mosquitoes to the list. Around the Block Pest Control is a family-owned company that has served Collin County since 2012. We drive down from our McKinney office to Murphy every week.

Murphy neighborhoods and their pests
Maxwell Creek and the homes along the creek greenbelt: Shade, water and tree cover. Mosquitoes in summer, and mice and roof rats moving from the creek toward the houses in fall.
Neighborhoods near Murphy Community Park and Central Park: Open turf and ponds. Fire ants in the fields and mosquitoes around the water.
Near the Timbers Nature Preserve: Woods and leaf litter shelter spiders, including brown recluses and black widows, plus ticks along the trails.
Homes around Murphy Marketplace and FM 544: Restaurants and retail nearby mean German cockroach and rodent pressure, and we handle commercial accounts there too.
Established neighborhoods off McCreary Road and Betsy Lane: Homes from the late '90s and 2000s with settled slabs and mature trees. We check carefully for termites and roofline gaps.
When a home turns 20

Many Murphy homes are now past the age where builder termite pre-treatments have long worn off. Slabs have settled, sealant has cracked, and tree limbs have reached the roof. Those changes open the door to termites, roof rats and spiders. A termite inspection, trimming limbs back from the roof and sealing gaps around utility lines and weep holes go a long way. Our quarterly plan handles the rest.

Summer: Mosquitoes along Maxwell Creek and the ponds, plus wasps and fire ants.
Fall: Roof rats and mice move indoors. Spiders show up in garages and closets.
Winter: German cockroaches indoors and rodents in attics. Good time for exclusion work.

Murphy pest control FAQ
Our Murphy home is about 20 years old. Should we get a termite inspection?
Yes. Builder pre-treatments don't last forever, and older slabs develop cracks. Our termite inspections are free and catch activity early. We also offer treatment with a one-year renewable warranty.
We back up to Maxwell Creek. What should we expect?
Mosquitoes in summer and rodents in fall. We treat the shady resting areas in your yard and seal entry points on the house.
Are brown recluse spiders common in Murphy?
We find them in garages, closets, attics and storage boxes, especially in homes near wooded areas. Reducing clutter and sealing gaps helps, and our treatment targets where they hide.

Do you serve Wylie, Plano and Allen too?
Yes: Wylie, Plano, Allen and the rest of Collin County.
What if pests come back between visits?
On the quarterly plan, re-treatments are free.
